Benjamin Ranard, MD

Junior Fellow

Benjamin Ranard is a joint degree MD/Master of Science in Health Policy Research student at the University of Pennsylvania interested in exploring patient-centered outcomes and quality measures.  His most recent research examined and classified how crowdsourcing can be utilized for health research.  Prior to joining the team, Benjamin graduated from Cornell University with a bachelors’ in biological sciences.

Ranard was recently awarded the Masters of Science in Health Policy Research Medical Student Award for his paper entitled “Using an online consumer-ratings platform to identify patient and caregiver-centered domains of hospital quality.” The award was established in 2015 and is awarded for meritorious work that demonstrates innovation or implementation in health care delivery and outcomes.

The Penn Medicine Center for Health Care Innovation engages interdisciplinary teams to reimagine health care delivery for dramatically better value and patient outcomes.

The Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics (LDI) is Penn's center for research, policy analysis, and education in health systems. Its 200 Senior Fellows analyze the medical, economic, and social issues that influence how health care is organized, financed, managed, and delivered across the U.S.
